                        Step One

Fold your piece of fabric in half lengthwise and iron it flat.
Thread your needle and knot it at the end.

                        Step Two

Sew a loose stitch along the open side of the fabric, each stitch about a centimeter apart.

                        Step Three

Pull the thread tight so the fabric bunches up.  Tie your thread off to keep it tight.  Roll  up the bunched fabric, folding over the top edge to give the look of a bent petal.

                        Step Four

Turn the rolled fabric over and sew the bottom edges together.  Make sure you sew the inside bits together too so the middle doesn't fall out.

                        Step Five

Out of the extra square of fabric, cut a circle the size of the bottom of the rose.  Using the blanket stitch you learnt in one of our previous tutorials (here), sew the circle onto the bottom to cover the messy edges.

                        Step Six

Sew the brooch clasp onto the bottom securely.
Voila!  You have a lovely rose brooch to liven up a shirt, coat, purse, or whatever you like.
