Making a Display Board From an Old Frame

What You Need:

  • An old frame, any size
  • cork board
  • fabric, at least two inches all-around bigger than the frame you chose
  • paint
  • staple gun
  • exact-o knife
  • ruler/straight edge

Step One:

Measure the inside of the frame to figure out how much cork-board you need to cut.  Draw a line with a pencil on the cork-board according to your measurements and cut, using the exact-o knife.

Step Two:

Wrap the fabric around the cut-out cork-board and staple into the back using the staple gun.  Make sure your staples are the right size; if they are too long, they will poke through the front.

Step Three:

Paint the frame in whatever color you choose.  Wait for it to dry.

Step Four:

Flip the dry farme over and pop the fabric-covered cork-board into place.  Using the staple gun, attach the cork-board to the frame.

Done!

That's it!  Now you have a lovely display board.  Stick some tacks in to hold lists, photos, reminders, or jewelry.  Use a big frame for a display board at a craft sale (like we did!), or use a small frame for organize smaller collections.

An Alternate Idea...

Instead of covering the cork-board in fabric, you can always leave it as is.  I made this cute little bulletin board a couple days ago (though I glued it into place, instead of stapling it).  You can see it in our shop by clicking on the photo or HERE.
